American Idol season 2 winner Ruben Studdard is heading back to reality TV, this time to compete as a contestant on NBC’s The Biggest Loser.

The 34-year-old singer has been struggling with weight issues for a long time. As far back as 2006, Rubben was trying different exercise and diet regiments, including a 1,200 calories a day diet and working out with trainer Gunnar Peterson.

When those efforts resulted in only 12-lbs of weight loss, Ruben tried vegetarianism with which he had much better luck, losing 70 pounds.

Studdard kept his healthier weight until 2012. But when his marriage to Surata Zuri McCants ended that year, he started packing on the pounds again. Now the Velvet Teddy Bear is hoping to become The Biggest Loser as well! We can’t wait to see how Ruben fares!
