The Real Housewives of Atlanta Reunion RECAP April 14, 2013

Sunday night’s episode of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA (April 14, 2013) was the second part of the reunion show. Below is a full recap of the RHOA 4/14/13 reunion:

“Come on wig.” With those three words NeNe ushered in one of the most long awaited returns in housewives history. Kim Zolicak minus her wig (Andy even pulled her hair for good measure) made her return to the show.  Her appearance was rather anticlimactic, she addressed her reasons for leaving the show- her priorities are different now. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that her spin-off show “Don’t Be Tardy” was given a second season by Bravo… Anyway, the ladies finally have a chance to tell Kim face to face how they feel about her checking out and not participating in most of the season. Kandi led the charge stating “Everybody was sick of you being able to bail out and we still had to go and do it … I know everybody felt we were held to a different standard because everybody has talked about it.” Cynthia chimed in “We weren’t being respected.  Everybody felt like you were full of it through this whole year and all of the end of last year.” Asked about her regrets, Kim admitted that “I wish I communicated more with everybody throughout the entire five years. We were kind of having fun with it and then it turned into a show and then it turned into a really big show right away, you get catapulted into this lifestyle you were not used to living.” It was evident from this week and last week’s episodes that Andy is just as much as an obsessed fan of the show as we are; so he asked the question that is on most fans minds- will NeNe and Kim ever kiss and make up. NeNe says “never say never but I just think that we’re both in two different places in our lives.” Kim agreed and added, “We’ve been through a lot. She probably knows me better than anyone sitting here today. If I saw her in a restaurant I’d probably sit down and have a glass of wine.” And then to the delight of everyone on stage, the two hugged goodbye and Kim left the stage as a housewife for the last time. Last week the ladies announced via twitter that they had a long chat after the reunion and are friends again. Hopefully this means that Kim and her wig will make a few appearances next season.

Although she may have buried the hatchet with NeNe, Kandi is still singing a bitter tune about Kim’s continued use of and profit from their song “Don’t Be Tardy for the Party.” Kandi believes that since she wrote and produced the track that she deserves more than Kim has given her. Kandi has recently filed a lawsuit against Kim, with Phaedra acting as her attorney. Fodder for next season I guess.

“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the shadiest of them all?” asked Kenya, apparently the answer is Phaedra. This week it wasn’t the former beauty queen who was on the attack against Ms. Parks but rather NeNe has a issue with Phaedra. NeNe tells Andy that she thinks that Phaedra persued Marlo to be a part of the show last season because NeNe’s was Marlo’s current boyfriend. When that didn’t work out, and NeNe and Marlo became friends, NeNe claims that Phaedra turned on Marlo. NeNe also accused Phaedra of trying to dig up dirt about NeNe’s past by contacting NeNe’s half sisters. She called Phaedra and her antics “low down and dirty” and told her “You need to figure out why you did something so dirty to someone who had never done anything dirty to you.” She goes on to say, “You never can win when you’re dirty.” Finally Phaedra relents and apologizes, “I apologize, NeNe, if you felt some sort of way about the sister ordeal. If it hurt your feelings I apologize.”

Phaedra has little time to worry about NeNe’s hurt feelings, Bravo recently announced that she will be starring in her own spin-off show. “Rich People’s Problems” will focus on Phaedra mediating disputes between…you guessed it, rich people. Bravo’s official description of the show reads “When the rich and famous of Atlanta have a dispute, they know that only one lawyer will deliver some cold, hard justice: Phaedra Parks of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

“Whether it’s friends battling over an $8,000 loan or accusations of stolen Chanel handbags or confusion over a prenuptial agreement and whether it entitles you to two or three live-in staff members, the rich have an odd sense of what qualifies it as a problem in today’s world.”

It’s easy to forget that despite her numerous ventures, (reality star, fitness expert, mortuary scientist, stun gun maker) Phaedra is actually a licensed attorney. She famously represented Bobby Brown in one of his numerous court appearances. This will be the third spin-off series Bravo has given to an ATL housewife. Kandi’s “Kandi Factory” is currently airing and Kim’s Don’t Be Tardy is set to premiere next week.

Next Week: Part 3! The husbands join the ladies on stage and bring the drama.

  1. Kim’s exit this season was anti-climatic in itself. It was nice to see Kim and Nene kiss and make-up, hopefully they can keep that friendship going in the future. Because of my new work schedule at DISH, I missed this part of the Real Housewives of Atlanta when it first aired. I was able to catch up on this show, thanks to my DISH Hopper recording the reunion for me. This DVR is the only one capable of recording up to 2,000 hours of my favorite television shows. With it, I was able to record the full season of RHOA, and the full seasons of my other favorite shows that air the same night.
