Sunday night’s episode of THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA (April 21, 2013) was the third and last part of the reunion show. Below is a full recap of the RHOA 4/21/13 reunion:

It’s time to say farewell to the ladies of the ATL. The 5th season of Real Housewives of Atlanta came to a close last night with the emotional and explosive part 3 of the reunion. This season is “Gone with the Wind” and it was most definitely fabulous. Tonight’s reunion was full of tears, twirls, and surprises.

Andy Cohen kicked things off by grilling Kenya about her showmance with Walter. Kenya maintains that the relationship was real and that she did not hire Walter to pretend to be her boyfriend; she proclaimed “I would not waste my time pretending to be in a relationship when I have a worldwide stage to find me a man.” Andy isn’t convinced and apparently neither was anyone else on stage. Andy asked the ladies and their husbands who had all joined them on stage (all except Portia’s husband Kordell…more on that later.) Andy threw some shade Kenya’s way and asked everyone if they believed that Kenya and Walter’s relationship was a genuine one, and surprise, surprise no one did. Andy then grilled Kenya about her accusations about Walter’s sexuality (she insinuated that he was gay on several occasions.) Kenya denies saying anything derogatory or malicious about Walter, “Being gay is not a character assassination and I never accused him of being gay. I have questions about his sexuality, that’s two totally different things.”

Andy remained unconvinced and Cynthia’s husband Peter and Phaedra’s husband Apollo jumped to Walter’s defense since he was not invited to the show to defend himself. When confronted with her lies and backed into a corner by essentially everyone on stage Kenya did the only thing she could, she stood up and twirled and started quoting lyrics from her “Gone With the Wind Fabulous” song.  Unfortunately she did not twirl off the stage and out of Atlanta; rumor has it she has signed on for next season.

Now we move from twirling to texting. In one of the most shocking parts of the entire season Kenya drops a bombshell. Phaedra’s husband Apollo tells Kenya “I don’t care much for you.” She shoots back “Maybe you should stop texting me.” WOW. The reactions were priceless- Andy’s eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head, Kandi and Porsha’s mouths dropped open and Porsha whispered “this has just gone to a whole ‘nother level.” That’s the smartest thing she’s said all season.  Kenya and Apollo aren’t done. Apollo doesn’t back down and tells her “Since we left Anguilla, you’ve been trying to get at me.” Kenya calls him crazy and shows some of the supposed “sexts” to Andy who says that they don’t look like sexing, but like Kenya flirting with Apollo. Phaedra closes the segment by announcing “that’s why I called her a whore.”

Kenya wasn’t the only new housewife to have more than her fair share of drama this season. The other new cast member Porsha and her husband Kordell had major troubles this season. At first, Porsha played it cool when discussing her marriage with Andy and the ladies, telling them “My husband loves me to the core,” she said. “I love him so much.”  She goes on to say that she felt the ladies were judgmental and didn’t support her in her relationship. Soon  the façade cracks and she goes on to give a tearful four minute monologue about how much she admires the ladies and how she wishes they would support her and that one day she aspires to have what they have- successful relationships, children and a career. “My life is beautiful. I don’t work. I live well. My husband provides for me. But I want more for myself and for my family. This is new to me. I’m here. I’m ready to be real with you guys if you’re real with me.”

She went on to defend herself, her husband and her marriage; which was painful to watch knowing that a week later Kordell gave Porsha her walking papers and filed for divorce. NeNe understands Porsha’s pain but maintains that she was treated fairly by the ladies and that first seasons are rough on everyone, telling her “This is not the show to come on and expect these ladies to lift you up. The only support you might get is if somebody dies, then everybody might come and send a flower. Other than that you could be going through anything and you’re not gonna get support.” Leave it to Ms. Leakes to tell the truth.

Porsha later appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and told Andy Cohen that she was blindsided by the divorce filing and felt betrayed. Two of the biggest shockers- She found out about the divorce via twitter and she and Kordell are still living in the same house together although they are not speaking. She also admitted that there was no prenup.

The reunion ended on a happy note with NeNe saying that this was her favorite season to date, I’m sure it was- she is the last original ATL housewife standing, she managed to stay mostly drama free, spent most of her time in Los Angeles filming “The New Normal,” won back her ex-husband and her spin off show chronicling her re-marriage to Greg has just been announced.

Most of the other ladies agreed that this was a good season. Kandi and Kim also have spin off shows currently airing on Bravo. Although Phaedra said she was unhappy with this season, she is pregnant with her second child and has a multitude of businesses to keep her busy. Cynthia and her husband Peter seem to be back on track and doing better financially. Porsha seems to be handling the divorce well and has reportedly joined her other five cast members and signed on to return next season.

It’s been fun recapping the highs and lows of everyone’s favorite Southern belles, I can’t wait to see what season 6 has in store for all of these ladies.

  1. This last part of the reunion was really intense, especially with the husbands present. I was surprised when Kenya mentioned that Apollo was texting her. It was even more surprising when she denied saying malicious things about Walter. I was at work at DISH when this aired last night so I recorded it. My roommates and I set up our DISH Hopper to record up to six programs at once, during primetime. This way, no one argued over what to watch.
