LeAnn Rimes Sings National Anthem

To say that LeAnn Rimes has been on a roller coaster ride for the past few days is an epic understatement. The singer started the week celebrating her 30th birthday, but, it was all downhill from there. She entered a 30-day inpatient treatment facility the very next day to deal with “stress and anxiety” issues. The day after that, LeAnn filed a lawsuit against two women who allegedly “secretly” recorded one of her telephone conversations and who distributed excerpts of it to “hate blogs”.

About entering treatment, LeAnn says she has become a victim of severe online bullying and is trying to turn the tables on her haters. “There has been this cyber-bullying that has been going on for a considerable period of time,” her lawyer Larry Stein told Celebuzz. “Apparently, most of this started when LeAnn started dating Eddie Cibrian,” he explained. “These women [fans of Eddie’s ex wife] have been merciless … vitriolic in their attacks.” He added, “They don’t understand who [LeAnn] is or what she stands for.”

About the treatment, LeAnn’s rep told People: “While there will be speculation regarding her treatment, she is simply there to learn and develop coping mechanisms.” LeAnn herself explains that she will be taking care of herself and coming back “in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman [she] can be.” LeAnn added, “All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”

Now, about that lawsuit. LeAnn says Kimberly and Lexi Smiley and other yet unknown defendants violated her privacy by orchestrating a “campaign of harassment” against her ever since she began “dating” her now husband, Cibrian. Rimes alleges that in an effort to end the negative Internet assault on her, she spoke to the defendants on the phone, but the conversation was taped without her knowledge. The suit claims that the women “conspired to spitefully ensure that out of context excerpts of that [telephone] recording would be disseminated to the public on various websites…in an effort to portray Ms. Rimes in an egregious false and negative light and cause her emotional distress.”
LeAnn also claims that she had to endure their “campaign of harassment in the hope they would tire of posting false and defamatory statements,” but the “outrageous conduct” has only gotten worse over time and she “can no longer merely hope” the behavior will cease on its own.

Rimes adds that she is the victim of an “increasingly aggressive Internet campaign by supporters of her husband Eddie Cibrian’s first wife, Real Houswives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville.”

Rimes states the posting has “harmed her reputation and personal relationships and have caused her emotional distress.”

Rimes has asked the court for an injunction to stop the further dissemination of the tape, as well as compensatory and punitive damages.
